Prepacked for Direct Sale (PPDS) food webinar for local authorities

2pm - 4pm, Thursday 29 July 2021

Local Authorities can claim 2 hours CPD certification for this webinar

An opportunity to hear from and ask questions of, the FSA and the expert panel

About

Welcome to the Food Standards Agency's (FSA’s) prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) food labelling webinar for local authorities and district councils - this webinar will be relevant to both Environmental Health and Trading Standards colleagues.

From 1 October 2021, the requirements for labelling on prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) foods will change in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The new labelling requirements will help protect consumers by providing potentially life-saving allergen information on the packaging.

Any business that produces PPDS food will be required to label it to show the name of the food and the ingredients list. This includes emphasising within the ingredients list any of the 14 allergens used in the product, as required by food law.

At this webinar, we will give background to the new allergen labelling changes, also known as Natasha’s Law. We will look at the new requirements for food businesses, discuss approaches to enforcement and enforcement responsibilities, and help you prepare for implementation.

Ask your questions

There will also be plenty of time dedicated to a Q&A session with our expert panel. You can submit your questions at the live event, or beforehand in the “Submit a Question” section of the delegate area.

Please note this event is aimed at local authorities in England and Wales, and district councils in Northern Ireland only. Registration is limited to residents of the UK only.

Due to the nature of this event, it will be held in English only. However, the agenda and pre-event materials are available in Welsh. You are welcome to submit your pre-event questions in Welsh. If your question is put to the panel during the live event, the response will be in English only, however we will provide you with a written response in Welsh.

Spaces are limited and will operate on a first come first served basis. To ensure that we give each local authority the opportunity to attend we are limiting the number of attendees to two per authority. Registration will close on Thursday 22 July.

For those who are unable to attend; the full webinar will be available as a video file on Smarter Comms after the event.
